What this site is
Norse Translator Hub provides free educational tools and reference content about the Old Norse language, runic alphabets, and Viking Age culture. The site is an independent, self-funded project run by Adeel Shahzad and is not affiliated with any university, museum, or academic institution.
Accuracy of translations
Our translation tools use a dictionary and rule-based lookup system — not a trained AI model and not a human translator. They work best on individual words and short, simple phrases. Old Norse grammar (cases, conjugations, word order) is not fully reconstructed by a dictionary lookup, so longer or more complex sentences may come back incomplete or overly literal.
Do not rely on our tools for anything permanent or consequential without independent verification — this includes tattoos, inscriptions, jewellery engravings, academic work, or legal documents. See our Methodology page for full details on how translations are produced and their known limitations.
Acceptable use
You may use the site’s tools and content for personal, educational, and creative purposes. You agree not to:
- attempt to disrupt the site, overload our servers, or scrape content at abusive rates;
- misrepresent the site’s output as certified, academic, or professionally reviewed translation;
- use the site for any unlawful purpose.
Intellectual property
The site’s original articles, guides, and design are the property of Norse Translator Hub. You may quote short excerpts with clear attribution and a link back to the original page. Bulk reproduction of our content without permission is not allowed.
Third-party links
We link to external references (dictionaries, museums, academic sources) for your convenience. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of external sites.
Advertising
The site may display third-party advertisements in the future. We do not endorse the products or services advertised, and any dealings you have with advertisers are solely between you and the advertiser.
Limitation of liability
The site and its tools are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or reliance on its translations.
