Norse Translator Co. — Who’s behind this site
NorseTranslator.com is built and maintained by Norse Translator Co., an independent, self-funded project run by a self-taught enthusiast of Old Norse language, runes, and Viking Age history. This site started as a personal project to make Old Norse vocabulary and rune resources easier to explore online, and is not affiliated with a university, museum, or academic institution.
Norse Translator Co. is a small, independently run outfit — not a team of professional linguists, philologists, or credentialed academics in Old Norse studies. Research for this site’s content and dictionary curation is self-directed, drawing on published historical references such as the Cleasby-Vigfússon dictionary (see Sources & Corpora).
How content is reviewed
This is currently a single-person project: the same person who writes and maintains the site’s content also reviews it, under the Norse Translator Co. name. There is no separate, independent academic reviewer at this time, and we don’t want to overstate that there is. If and when we bring in a qualified outside reviewer for deeper linguistic accuracy checks, we’ll update this page with their name, credentials, and scope of review.

This site is independently owned and supported by advertising. We have no sponsorship or financial relationship with any dictionary publisher, museum, or academic institution referenced on the site.
